The Red Sea barely keeps a season. Boats leave the resort jetties from first light, the water stays flat until early afternoon, and most operators will sell you the flight bundled with a banana boat and a snorkel stop for very little more.
Off the sand, or off the deck
A beach launch runs you down the sand until the canopy takes your weight. A boat launch winches you straight off the transom, which is calmer, drier and the only option where the shore shelves away fast.
Add a reef stop and it stops being ten minutes
The flight itself is short. Bolted onto a snorkel run over the house reef it becomes a morning, and hour for hour it is the cheapest thing moving on the water.
Tandem, triple, or on your own
Most boats fly two under one canopy and some will take three. Solo flights exist but carry a minimum weight as well as a maximum, which is why small children go up strapped to an adult.

Four things that decide whether the parasail goes up at all.
Parasailing is the most weather-dependent thing on a resort beach, and the harness rules are stricter than the listings admit. None of this appears on the booking page; all of it decides your morning.
- 01Wind, in both directionsToo little and the canopy will not lift; too much and the boat stays tied up. The call is made on the morning, not the night before, and most operators rebook rather than refund.
- 02Weight, top and bottomBoats fly to a combined limit for the harness, and to a minimum as well. Under the minimum you go up strapped to an adult, which is why the tandem is the standard flight.
- 03Whether you come back wetA dry take-off and landing happens on the deck. Ask for the dip and the driver slows on the descent until the water is up to your knees, then lifts you clean out again.
- 04Your phone stays on the boatNothing loose flies: no phones, no hats, no sunglasses on a cord. If you want the pictures you buy the crew’s, which is why so many tickets sell the photo package with the seat.

Take-off without leaving the deck
The line runs off a hydraulic winch bolted to the transom. You sit on the platform, the crew clips the harness onto the bar, the boat accelerates, and the deck simply drops away underneath you. Nobody runs and nobody jumps, and if you keep your feet up you land back on the same deck completely dry.

Being lowered into the sea on purpose

Tanjung Benoa in Bali runs every watersport there is off one stretch of pontoon and charges accordingly, which is to say almost nothing. Boracay goes up over White Beach at the end of the afternoon. Dubai puts the Burj Al Arab in the frame and prices it like a landmark.

Nobody takes their own photos on a parasail. Somebody else has to.
Nothing loose goes up, so the camera question is settled before you leave the jetty. Some boats mount a GoPro on the harness bar, some shoot from the deck with a long lens, and a few hand over the files before you are back on the sand. Worth asking which before you pay.
